Our Story
In 1997, the historic colonial mansion that now home to Boutique Hotel Boutique Posada del Ángel was acquired by the Hernández Bizzotto family. What began as a family dream to restore a 19th-century architectural treasure in the heart of Cuenca, Ecuador, evolved into one of the most iconic boutique hospitality projects in the historic center.
Under the vision of its owner, Daniel Hernández, and the architectural direction of Arq. Alfredo Ríos, a meticulous year-and-a-half heritage restoration took place. The greatest challenge was preserving the original adobe and wooden structure while highlighting its colonial courtyards and integrating handcrafted finishes that restored warmth and elegance to every corner.
Originally, the second courtyard—where a family orchard once bloomed—was planned as a student residence. However, the family’s passion for hospitality and the unique charm of the property inspired them to open its doors to travelers from all around the world.
The name Posada del Ángel (Inn of the Angel) pays tribute to a cherished family tradition—where the names Ángel and Ángela span across generations—while reflecting the peaceful angelic details that gracefully adorn the grounds.
From a Charming Inn to a Leading Boutique Hotel
As tourism in Cuenca grew, so did our commitment to excellence. Through continuous upgrades to modern hospitality standards and ongoing investments in comfort, the original inn officially evolved into Boutique Hotel Boutique Posada del Ángel.
This transition marked a new era focused on premium guest experiences: comfortable rooms with authentic historic charm, personalized service, and the genuine warmth of a traditional Cuencano home.
